Bethlehem Lutheran School News

From upcoming activities to amazing accomplishments and events, we’ll post all of the important BLS happenings right here on our News page. We may even give a helpful parenting tip or two. Check back regularly so you don’t miss a thing. We thank you for your support!

Grand-Friends Day

Inviting all grandparents and special friends to come and spend the morning with your student(s) on Friday, March 1 starting at 8:30 a.m. We have a lot of fun activities planned! You will travel from room to room where each teacher is hosting a different event such as putting together puzzles, decorating cookies, sharing life stories, having your picture taken with your student, and more. The 1st grade class will be leading Chapel on that day, and the L.E.S.T. drama team will perform “Waiting for Gal Gadot.”

We will dismiss the students at 11:15 a.m. so they can enjoy more time with their grandparents and/or special friends. Each student and/or sibling must have an adult to escort them that morning since the teachers will be hosting events in their rooms. If you know someone who would be interested in serving as a surrogate grandparent or friend, please let us know! We will pair them up with students who may not be able to have special visitors here on that day.

Many thanks to Yoke’s Fresh Market on 27th Avenue for donating all the cookies and decorations for one of our activities! We appreciate their generosity!

If you have any questions, please call the school office at 582-5624 or ask your child’s teacher.

Important Re-Enrollment Info

Please watch your email on Monday, February 11. We will be sending an important message about re-enrollment that starts on February 19. The email will provide instructions on how to re-enroll your student(s) for the 2019/2020 school year as well as answer some questions that you may have. If you do not receive the email on February 11, please call the office at 582.5624.

As we approach re-enrollment time, we want to remind you that if you have siblings or students not currently enrolled and you are interested in enrolling for next year, please contact Anna Noble, our admissions director, as soon as possible. Some of our classes are starting to fill already. Thank you!

Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run inspires 3rd through 5th grade girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident by combining training for a 5k run/walk with self-esteem enhancing lessons. Over our ten-week season, a team of 8–15 girls meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday after school with our trained, volunteer coaches. The season starts on March 5 and ends with a 5k on May 18. Registration is available through the Race Planner website. The cost is $150 for 10-week season, and you can contact Kristi Brault at (509) 628.6658 or by email for more information.

Sip, Savor & Support

Sip, Savor, and Support (often referred to in shorthand as S3) is a yearly fundraising event to support Bethlehem Lutheran Scholarship Endowment Fund (BLSEF), the program that provides tuition assistance to our families. The evening consists of a silent auction, dinner, dessert dash, and wine tasting.

We have a small crew of volunteer church members, parents, and teachers work together to make this event possible. This year’s S3 will take place at the Zintel Creek Golf Club (a new place this year!) on Saturday, March 23 starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $55 for individuals or $100 for a couple if tickets are purchased ahead of time. Tickets will be available starting the week of February 11 in the school office. Tickets are $70 per individual and $130 per couple if purchased at the door.

Business sponsorships will be available, so watch for more information to come! Check out our Facebook page! Search for Sip, Savor, and Support to stay updated on auction items, S3 news, etc. We hope you can attend! It is an evening of fun and fellowship that supports a very worthy cause - financial aid for BLS families! Watch the News Slice for updates!
